Reduce your crazy holiday stress this year

Starting to feel the looming holiday stress? Whether you have family coming in town for the weekend, or you are hosting a holiday party - stress over the holidays is inevitable for almost everyone. A few easy preparation hacks can get you set up for a less stressful and a more enjoyable holiday season. Below are our recommendations to ease your stress and fall back in love with the magical, holiday season!

  • Clean your house days before guests arrive: This may not be feasible if you have children running around the house, constantly making a mess, but a deep clean days before guests arrive can save you time the day of their arrival. Deep cleaning days before your guests arrive can set you up for less hectic, stressed cleaning right before they arrive - I’m talking deep clean the bathroom, deep clean the kitchen and clean those little area’s you have not gotten around to in a while. Spend time now to be less stressed later.
  • A couple days before, get out all your serving platters, plates and silverware: A tip I’ve picked up from my dad is to set out all the serving platters, plates and other things you know you’re going to need for your holiday get together a couple days early. If you don’t need the item before the get together, set it out on your dining room table so it’s ready to go when you need it. Setting out your serving platters will also help you remember all your dishes - no more forgetting that one item that was in the back of the fridge.
  • Resist the urge to over achieve: Keep it simple and you will stress less. Ever try to overachieve and make five different sides, two different cocktails and four desserts, just for your holiday party? Try keeping it simple this year and sticking to a couple well made dishes. Having less items to make will obviously result in less stress for your holiday, and having more time to focus on a couple dishes will most likely, result in more delicious food for your guests.

Changing up a few things in your holiday routine could result in a happier, more enjoyable time for everyone at your home and also at your party. Less running around like a crazy person at your holiday get together will give you more time to connect to family and friends, and less time stressing.
